School's Achievement

The school has been lucky enough to have been awarded and achieved great things during its 15 years of operation. Some of us would still remember that SMK Taman Melawati Achieved the great feat of being the Number 1 daily school in 1998.

Other than that, we have been the best school in the district of Gombak for 2 years in a row now, and we have ranked somewhere top 2 in the past 5 years. Academically, SMK Taman Melawati has been somewhat 'untouchable' at district level.

SMK Taman Melawati has also been a 'player' at both state and national level. In 2002, the school's history quiz team finished 4th runner up at the state annual history quiz. In terms of co-curriculum, we too have excelled, most notably in uniform bodies such as the scouts, police cadet and KRS (Kadet Remaja Sekolah). School representatives have participated in world jamborees (BIMP EAGA Asia Pacific Scouts Jamboree, World Scout Jamboree in Thailand), Champions in marching ( KRS and Police cadet) at district level and participated in state levels as well and not forgetting The Red Crescent's representative to Japan in 2004 for an International Youth Exchange Programme.

We have close ties with International bodies such as ASEAN and were lucky enough to send a student in the 3rd ASEAN Student Exchange Programme. We share a good relationship with schools in Japan where exchange student programmes are normally held.

Our students and teachers have also won awards at all levels which shows the ambition and potential of SMKTM. Below are some of the awards that have been given to the school recently;

School History

Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Melawati or SMKTM was first established on the 1st of August, 1991. The first batch of students came from the vicinity of the school itself, most of them were from SMK Lembah Keramat and SMK Taman Keramat. There were 403 of them in total allocated in 2 blocks. In 1993, a third block (Block C) was built to accommodate the growing population.
            In 1998, thanks to the PIBG or PTS, the school had enough funds to build a Surau for students to perform their prayers. The famous hall which can accommodate up to 1000 students was completed on the 18th of May, 2001 and costs RM 1.6 million. 2 new blocks were introduced in  late 2003 and the school now boasts of an array of amenities such as a computer room, Arts and Crafts studios, basket ball court, a football field and the Science Park or Taman Sains. Below is the school's charter which is the essence of the school itself;
